Four materials, each carrying its own EPD and test data. Chosen because they stand up next to the incumbent on absorption, fire and buildability — not because they photograph well.

Beyond Rational exists to make the conscious choice a defensible one. We carry acoustic and surface materials that meet the standards a specifier already works to — EN 13964 for the ceiling range, Class A absorption where the build-up allows it, declared emissions, published EPDs. The footprint is lower. The paperwork is not thinner.
Every material is chosen on its own merits first: how it sounds, how it looks, how it is fixed, how it ages. Where a material differs from the incumbent — and Aisti Aalto is B-s1,d0 where stone wool is A1 — we say so early, because you will find it at the fire strategy anyway.
Construction is conservative for good reasons, and a new material earns its place by being checkable. So we bring the test reports, the EPD and the mounting detail to the first meeting, and let them do the arguing.

Beyond Rational is based in Copenhagen. Our partner Aisti produces in Kitee, Finland. We specify and supply across Denmark, and our team has spent years designing and developing acoustic products — which is why we read an EPD before we read a brochure.
